The Australian Technical College - Central Western NSW - A Company

The Australian Technical College - Central Western NSW is an initiative of the Australian Government. The College is located at 252-256 Fitzroy Street, Dubbo.

The Australian Technical College - Central Western NSW is a company in its own right with a Board of Directors who have the responsibility of the overall governance of the College. The Board has 9 members, one of whom is the Chairperson.  The members are current leaders of Industry whose key contribution will be to keep the College in touch with Industry's real needs for the benefit of the students. There are also education representatives on the Board.

The Australian Technical College - Central Western NSW - A College

The Australian Technical College - Central Western NSW a registered and accredited Senior College in NSW and will become a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

Students enrolled in the Australian Technical College - Central Western NSW will be required to undertake courses that will lead to the dual qualifications of a NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) and the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) of Certificate III in their chosen trade.

It is the mission of the Australian Technical College - Central Western NSW to promote this unique pathway as the one most suited to providing the employer with employees capable of meeting the challenges of the workplace of today.  Students who graduate from the Australian Technical College - Central Western NSW, will enter the world of work with -

  • A broader education, (HSC)
  • Advanced training in their respective trade- skills, (AQF Cert. III)
  • Personal experience of the work place itself. (Work-placement)

In 2010 we will be known as the
Central West Trade College 
which will support students and employers in and around Dubbo as a regional vocational learning hub and focus on work experience, on- and off-the-job training and support.

This collaborative model will continue what the Australian Technical College - Central Western NSW does now.  It will be a joint initiative of DEEWR, DET, TAFE and Independent Schools.
